10.14.12- The Southern Experience

10.14.12
So after an adventerous trip to Tenneessee to celebrate our 1yr anniversary, we are taking the day to relax and I guess me catch up on loads and loads of laundry =/.. Over the past week we have created soo many memories to last a lifetime, that I can't even imagine how I will ever remember all of them considering that it was only 1wk of our lives and look how quickly our first year went! So I decided to start blogging!  Along w/ capturing pictures along the way but being able to keep family and frineds in the loop as much as possible no matter how far away we are!

We traveled to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg Tenneessee for our anniversary and it was absolutely beautiful! We stayed in this cute little cabin way up in the smoky mountains and although it wasn't a GREAT view it still was beautiful and i mean you only sleep in it anyways! We had sooo many things that we wanted to do while we were there and Hiking was #1 on Jimmy's list. Boy o' Boy lemme tell you we did quite the hiking too...

We started our day off going to Cade's Cove, it is an 11 mile loop within/around the Smoky Mountains and there tends to be lots of "Bear Jams" and basically your in bumper to bumper traffic the whole time but you have the most unbelievable view the whole entire time that you don't even realize your sitting in traffic. If only traffic was like this in Columbus "sigh" There are pull-offs along the way where you can stop and take pictures as well as tiny cabins and barns where people in the olden days lived and have been restored etc.
-We stopped at a little church/cemetery known to have bears at the location- we sat in on a little history session where the man informed us of how the church was built and that to look up at the ceiling and you could see hand prints of all sizes on the wood as they had to hold the ceiling in place while they were building it! It was pretty neat- I don't remember anything else really as I became bored. Jim decided to go off the  beaten path and do a little hiking as he was tired of sitting in the car, which yea ok that sounded great! As we were hiking, jim decided he had to go to the bathroom-lovely, if only it were that easy for us women out in the woods!! He wanted to go up to the top of the hill so he couldn't see any people, understandable- I stopped dead in my tracks, scared of the grumbeling that I heard and sure enough it was a baby cub ehhh about 30ft away, I was scared and pretty sure I pee'd down my leg at this point! At the Information desk that inform you to stay 50yards away from the bears and to not cross paths/break the scent between the bear and the momma. 2 problems!! The cub was a wopping 30ft away and well the momma was no where to be seen and the only way BACK to the car was to go pass the cub in our trail and break the mommas scent.. I was soo scared! After Jim did his business we walked back, slowly, quietly that I don't even think I was breathing! I am just about even with bear in the path and suddenly hear loud noise and look over and 4 deer have been alarmed and are running our way- scared off the bear and I was ready to make a mad dash because I know that deer do not FLAG there white tail for the fun of it!! We finally made it back to the car and I was thankful!!

Adventures to be continued....later (after I help jimmy with cleaning up)
